Ending of a Chapter
As the last post to the blog; I would like to dedicate this to the hard work and efforts that everyone has put in in order for the trip to be so fun. Who would have expected that hard work could be enjoyable!?
The Crete exerience has left us all with fond memories which, I am hoping, will last longer than that of the memory length of a goldfish. However, it also opened my eyes to the diversity of the culture in Crete, namely that between Chania and Chora Sfakion. As Laura said it was a bit of a shock to go from one extreme to the other. But for me, personally, I was quite affected and I learnt that perhaps the peace and quiet is much more enjoyable rather than the manic hustle and bustle of a commercialised area.
On a selfish note, I do not think it is a good idea to rave about Chora as other people will also discover it and it could perhaps lose some of its traditional charm. Who knows what the future holds for those living and working in Chora – only time will tell.
It is sad that the trip had to finish but as the saying goes “all good things must come to an end”. Here is where I will leave the post with my own highlight of the trip- The coastal walk along the E4. This is because it was relatively empty of tourists and also due to the outstanding beauty of the area.
The final thing I wish to say is a hearty “mussles toes” to everyone – especially the rest of my group for being wicked!
Emma
